CEDIA has relaunched its Member of Excellence programme, which provides a designation intended to help consumers identify quality integrators.
Unlike traditional certifications, the Member of Excellence programme evaluates integrators against a broad set of business and operational criteria.
These include long-term CEDIA membership, technical expertise, financial discipline, customer care commitments, professional design processes, industry leadership, and recognition through the CEDIA Smart Home Awards.
Wendy Griffiths, CEDIA’s senior vice president of membership and global development, said: "The smart home industry has matured significantly, and consumers deserve a way to identify integrators who demonstrate excellence across every aspect of their business, not just technical installation. Member of Excellence provides that verification.
"This designation recognises CEDIA members who have taken their business to the next level, with a focus on exceptional customer support, award-winning projects, and industry altruism -instilling confidence in consumers’ choices.”
Applicants must meet five core pillars: Dedicated, Certified, Disciplined, Committed, and Detailed.
These cover criteria such as holding premium or professional integrator membership for five consecutive years; maintaining multiple active CEDIA certifications; demonstrating financial stability; providing documented post-installation customer care; and supplying comprehensive project documentation.
Additionally, applicants must show either active industry collaboration through CEDIA volunteering or recent recognition as a CEDIA Smart Home Awards finalist.
Member of Excellence status is reviewed every three years, ensuring ongoing compliance.
